For Authors

Author Support

Being an Indie Author means that everything I do is either done by me or someone I hire. I'm not to the hiring part yet so it's all on me. Writing, Covers, Advertising, Banners, etc. When I need to know how to do something my first stop is YouTube and a Google search. These articles and videos were not written by me. But I have found them helpful and thought you might also. Check back often, I'll add and update as I run across items.

A great article on "Showing not Telling" by Emma Darwin

I wish I could remember who I got this from so I could give them credit. Please forgive me, and if you read this refresh my memory.

Qzzr is a free online site that allows you to create question and answer quizzes. It tabulates the entries and collects data. It blows my mind at all the possibilities. Facebook events, release party, contests, etc. The quiz was easy to set up and use. There are very good video tutorials in the program. I suggest you watch them before you begin.

My results weren't as I expected. I thought this would be a big hit. And for an established author with readers clamoring to read their latest release it would probably have more success than I did.

I still thought it was fun and different, and I will use it again.

Here's a peek at my Qzzr quiz.

I ran across this tutorial while trying to find a solution to running giveaways. I liked that it's a slide show instead of a video. It was easier to stay on the slide frame I needed and follow the steps. I found it easy to set up and use and allowed me to collect the data I needed and randomly select the winner. You can check out my Giveaway site.

This is a wonderful app! Thank you Mae Clair and Sandra Cox for writing it up and sharing. I was able to easily follow Mae's directions and added all 9 of my books in fifteen minutes. Easy Peasy. I wonder what else Facebook does that I don't know about.
Here is what mine looks like:

How to deal with social media and still have time for writing. This was a big issue for me. There are pros and cons to using a program like Hootsuite but I've found it extremely helpful. I use the FREE version of the program.

RoundTeam is another free time saver when used in conjunction with Hootsuite. RoundTeam does all your RTing for you. You set up "Teams" the way you want and the program re-tweets as you indicate. You then add or remove tweeters from your teams as needed. I use the FREE version of the program.

You're going to need images to go with those banners and advertisements your posting. Get FREE images here.
